With Bluetooth wireless headphones becoming more popular than ever, wired alternatives still hold a place in our hearts and pockets. 1More is one company that has made the best wired headphones even better with five drivers and a new angled design.
In the box, the Triple Driver OE show that they’re all about high-quality audio, with an impressive and luxurious package that has lots of nice little bespoke touches that make it feel like you’re buying something special. There’s a lot to love here, from the earbuds themselves (sculpted metal with a premium look and feel) to the inline microphone metal remote that sits on top of the right earbud.
The earbuds themselves are angled to provide a good fit in your ears, and they’re quite small so they won’t stick out too much. They’re very lightweight, too, making them a very comfortable pair to wear all day long. There’s also plenty of tip options in multiple shapes and sizes, so you should be able to find the perfect fit for your ears.
Music sounds detailed and full with a strong sense of space. Instruments are layered, and complex songs don’t sound muddled at all. The bass is lush without being overpowering, and the upper mids and treble have a great balance that works to highlight vocals. The vocals in particular have a beautiful natural warmth that makes them easy to listen to.
There are four active noise cancelling modes and two transparency modes available through the app, so you can customize your listening experience to your specific needs. The active ANC has mild, moderate, and strong levels to block out distractions, and the transparency modes allow you to choose between pass-through, voice enhancement, and ambient sound monitoring. In my tests, the ANC was able to completely block out sounds like a running car engine or working air-conditioner while maintaining clarity for phone calls and podcasts.
The headphone cable is very nice, with a Kevlar-reinforced black paracord and flecks of rose-gold throughout that give it a distinctive look and feel. It’s tough and slim, too, so it should be able to resist tangles and snags, and the earbuds themselves have an integrated metal remote that is very responsive to touch. The cable leads to a 3.5mm TRRS source jack and the dual earbud cups, where the right earbud has a 3-button inline mic metal remote near the end.
While they’re not a Bluetooth headset, the Triple Drivers come with a cable with a built-in DAC that supports hi-res audio formats like FLAC and ALAC, plus they support the low-latency codec of Apple’s Lightning connector. They can be used with any device that has a 3.5mm input, including laptops, PCs, and gaming consoles. There’s no extra charge for using them with these devices, and they can be used to play games, watch videos, or take calls in the office without any latency issues. In addition, they come with a soft-pouch carrying case, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and user manual.
